Item 1056E- Vintage Turquoise and Coral Stamped Brass Lighter Cases
Beautiful solid vintage Navajo turquoise and coral decorated leaves brass Bic lighter cases! We stumbled across these a few years back which they have never been previously used. I’d say they were made in mid 1970’s The Bic lighter wasn’t even made until 1973. Made from brass, we have two (2) each with a slight variation in decoration. Choice A displays a turquoise stone and piece of branch coral set into smooth brass bezels. The artist attaches a brass leaf to one side of both coral and turquoise. Adding a brass bead between the two and continuing with seven (7) brass scrolls. Choice B also displays a turquoise stone and coral stick set into smooth brass bezels. The difference between the two (2) cases is the leaves are mounted on same side of the turquoise and coral. There’s a brass bead and what appears to be a drop of solder to strengthen. Finishing with eight (8) scrolls. Both cases have the same stampwork across the top and bottom along with both sides of the cases. The lighter cases are made exclusively to hold the regular sized Bic disposable lighters. These are the only brass cases we have seen. Actually, the silversmith that was making the sterling silver cases passed away and I don’t think anyone has filled in making the lighter cases?
