Large vintage Navajo abalone carinated wire bracelet. The artist has used a large piece of abalone shell (possibly paua shell) setting it into a scallop cut bezel and wrapping it with heavy twisted wire capping it with a large silver drop. The silversmith has mounted the setting to a two (2) piece stout thick gauge carinated wire cuff which has both ends soldered together.

The heavy solid cuff measures 1 3/8” wide narrowing to 1/2” wide at both ends. The abalone shell measures 1 3/16: by 1 1/4” across. THe cuff sports an inner circumference of 5 5/8” with a 1 1/8” opening. It will fit a 6 5/8” to 6 3/4” wrist as is and can only be adjusted by a jeweler or silversmith. The stout bracelet weighs 63.8 grams (2.25 oz or 2.05 ozt) and is hallmarked with a bird symbol. Could be one of many hallmarks used by Lawrence Dodge? The shell shows a few thin chips around the edge and a scratch in the surface, but not real noticeable. Very beautiful multi color shell mounted to a heavy silver cuff! $179.95
