Beautiful vintage coral bead "Treasure" necklace! The necklace consists mainly of old coral beads cut from large coral branches with different "treasures" strung between the coral. The necklace consists of fifty nine (59) branch coral beads, thirty eight (38) small side seamed 3mm silver beads, two (2) 8mm seamed silver beads, one (1) 10mm seamed silver bead, three (3) round 6mm spotted jasper beads, three (3) round 6mm tiger eye beads, two (2) round 6mm onyx beads, five (5) mother of pearl chip/nuggets, and three (3) each of lapis, malachite, turquoise, and amethyst chip/nuggets. The necklace treasures include a turquoise and a white shell carved birds, a turquoise carved rabbit, a carved turtle, a decorated sterling silver Thunderbird charm by Maisel's Trading Co., a sungod sterling silver charm with a copyright Zia Sun Hallmark of Sun West Silver Co., and a decorated double sided sterling silver kachina charm. The artist finishes the necklace by attaching sterling silver end cones, a 6" long sterling silver chain extension, and a hook-n-eye clasp. For size comparison, the silver Sungod measures approximately 7/8" diameter, the silver Thunderbird measures 1" by 7/8" across, the silver kachina measures 1 1/4" by 7/16" across and the large turquoise bird fetish measures 1/2" by 1 3/16" across by 1/4" thick. The complete necklace is strung on cotton twine and measures approximately 25 1/4"" end to end or 31 1/4" end to end including the extension with a wearable length between 12 1/2" to 16 1/4" long. It weighs 45.4 grams (1.60 ounces) and is unsigned with exceptions of hallmarks on charms. Not sure which tribal affiliation to apply the necklace too? The Maisel's Trading Co. and the Zia Hallmark Sun West Silver Co. were/are both located in Albuquerque, NM and hired mainly Navajo silversmiths, but the charms were obviously bought by the artist prior to creating the necklace.
