Beautiful heavy vintage Navajo twenty stone Cerrillos turquoise squashblossom necklace! Made with a total of one hundred forty two (142) silver 8mm seamed beads, two (2) 6mm silver seamed beads, fourteen (14) turquoise decorated blossoms with four-point flutes, and a large six (6) stone turquoise decorated naja. The turquoise is a higher quality Cerrillos brilliant blue turquoise with brown and dark brown matrix encircled with white. The stones range from 3/16" across by 5/16" long up to the largest stone on the naja which measures 3/8" across by 1/2" long. Most of the stones are 5/16" across by 3/8" long. Each turquoise stone is set in a saw toothed bezel and mounted to a blackened scorched silver base. Each blossom consists of encircling the stone with carinated wire with decorative notching on both sides. The silversmith continues with a large silver drop at the bottom and three (3) large drops at top stamping a circle into the center drop and the bottom drop. He finishes by attaching a four (4) prong flute under the setting and applying decorative stamping completely around the flute. Each blossom measures 3/4" wide by 1 7/8" long. The turquoise naja consists of a large silver blackened and scorched silver plate at top with three (3) stone encircled with decoratively notched carinated wire and circle stamped silver drops between each stone. The artist runs a large heavy gauge carinated wire horseshoe across the center of the plate with a stone at each end. Under the horseshoe is a single stone also encircled with carinated wire with circle stamped silver drops and pieces of carinated wire finishing the decoration.
