Item #816A- Vintage 70's Navajo 18ct Turquoise Squashblossom Necklace
Here we have a truly stunning vintage 70’s Navajo turquoise squash blossom necklace that showcases the unique artistry of Native American jewelry. This remarkable piece features a squash blossom design with ten (10) exquisite turquoise “blossoms.” Each of these delightful blossoms displays what can only be described as beautifully polished stabilized Sleeping Beauty turquoise stones, expertly set into sleek silver bezels that are wrapped with intricate twisted wire. To add further elegance, these blossoms are encased in decorative stamped triangular wire, creating a truly eye-catching effect. Completing the design, you’ll find two silver drops that beautifully enhance the overall encasement of each blossom. Every “blossom” is finished with a graceful trefold flute, which adds an extra touch of flair.
The striking naja is made up of eight (8) turquoise settings that are expertly mounted in the same style as the blossoms, with a seamless connection to a double triangular wire “horseshoe” that’s meticulously soldered together at both ends. This captivating naja is attached to the double strands of handmade silver beads through two (2) hoops that are securely soldered at the back. The necklace itself features an impressive one hundred eight (108) handmade sterling silver seamed 8mm beads. Notably, each bead has a unique lip at the stringing hole, indicating that each half bead was carefully hole-punched before being lovingly soldered together—a detail that illustrates the craftsmanship involved. This contrasts beautifully with standard bench beads, commonly seen in more contemporary designs, where the bead is soldered as a whole and later punched by machine. The painstaking process involved in this necklace speaks volumes about its quality and the time devoted to creating it!
