Item #862R- Navajo Turquoise Stamped Silver Concho Belt by A&J Brown
Very nice unique Navajo turquoise and silver concho belt. The belt sports eleven (11) oval conchos plus the rectangular buckle. The silversmith has incorporated quite a bit of early repousse' styled workmanship noted in most of the concho belts pre-50's era. I'll start with the buckle, it displays a large oval cut and polished turquoise stone with brown and dark brown matrix set in a smooth silver bezel. He stamps a four sided rectangular box around the stone adding sunrise and plant symbol stamping inside the box and repeating arrows around the outside of box. The artist adds four (4) repousse' rolling leaves. Two (2) at top and two (2) at bottom separated with sunrise symbols stamping. The artist continues with two (2) repousse' crescent moons at each end of the buckle. Finishing the buckle with a swivel type belt holder and stout wire belt pin/stop. Each concho has an oblong cut and polished turquoise stone with tan and brown matrix each set in smooth bezels and mounted in center. The artist adds sunburst rays that shoot upward and downward with both sides cut out displaying pueblos. The whole inside of each concho is repousse' dome shaped with flat scallop edging that sports repeat and repousse' stamped crescent moons completely around the concho. All of the conchos have two (2) copper belt slides to hold it straight in place. All attached to a new black leather belt.
