Bold vintage Hopi peyote bird/Thunderbird silver overlay brooch/pin. The silversmith has created a circular silver concho and applied an oxidation to it turning the silver black. The artist continues by creating the same size concho and cuts out the bird along with cutting out a circular design symbols displaying water waves and mountains. Basically saying the guardian bird oversees both land and water. The artist overlays the cut out design concho creating the beautiful brooch, finishing by attaching a safety locking pin/clasp on the back.

The vintage Hopi brooch measures 1 1/2” in diameter and weighs 10.1 grams. Unsigned sterling silver. I place this brooch being made around the 50’s-60’s. Very nice detail handmade collector’s overlay brooch/pin! $144.95
