Bold vintage Navajo Kingman turquoise decorated coin silver cast ring. The silversmith starts by melting down old coins (90% silver) and poured a cast of the ring band. Note, old American coins 1964 and older were made of 90% silver as were older Mexican coins. Not to be confused with nickel silver which has no silver content. The artist has mounted a hard quality old Kingman turquoise nugget set into a fine cut sawtooth bezel. The artist encircles the stone with repeat crescent moon wire and twisted wire with a silver drop at each end of the twisted wire to show separation.

The ring face measures 15/16” by 5/8” across and weighs a healthy 20.5 grams. It’s a size 10 3/4 and is unsigned. We purchased as coin silver and state so in description, but not personally tested. It’s either coin silver (90%) or sterling silver (92.5%) content. I can state the old Kingman stone is harder than most stones on market these days and stand less chance of breaking or cracking. I’m not saying it won’t crack. The hardest turquoise only ranks 7 on the mohs scale. Most turquoise these days rate at 5-6 on mohs scale with diamonds being the hardest.
