Item #923R- XLG Vintage 40's-50's Navajo Plume Agate Decorative Stamped Silver Carinated Wire Cuff Bracelet
Extra large Navajo vintage 40’s-50’s plume agate carinated wire decorated bracelet cuff. The silversmith has used a very large rectangular cut and polished plume agate setting it into a decorative stamped smooth silver bezel wrapped with twisted wire and encircled with repeat sunrise stamping. The bezel and outer rim displays stampwork! The large stone setting is mounted to a six (6) piece carinated wire cuff which is soldered together at both ends with a stack of three (3) carinated wire sticks. The artist finishes the large cuff by attaching a unique decorative stamped chevron on both sides of the stone. The chevron displays a full sun with sunrise stamping encircling it. Not sure what the three (3) stamped symbols are on both sides of the sun stamped chevrons. The difference between a carinated wire and a triangular wire is that the silversmith had to hand make carinated wire prior to being available at supply houses by heating a round wire and pulling it through a triangular dye forcing the round wire to become a three-sided or triangular wire. You can tell the difference by eye because the carinated wire will show different widths. Wide to thin back to wide due to the hesitation of pulling the wire through the dye. The carinated wires in this cuff definitely show the different widths in the wire.
