Item # 595B- Vintage 70's Navajo 11pc Turquoise Coral Chip Inlay Phoenix Sterling Silver Squash Necklace by S.Kee
Beautiful and unique vintage 70's Navajo eleven piece turquoise coral inlay Phoenix squash necklace! The necklace displays a total of eleven (11) detailed silver mythical birds with turquoise and coral chips inlaid into the wings, breast, and tail feathers of each bird. I'm calling the birds Phoenix, but with the little flared flip, or ear possibly, on the back of the heads they may be a different mythical bird. The flared flip caused me to eliminate an eagle. The silversmith creates the birds where they are looking in towards the birds on the opposite side of the necklace with a larger, more detailed bird as the focal piece. They are attached to a unique double strand necklace that consists of thirty two (32) large 8mm silver seamed beads, one hundred three (103) 6mm silver seamed beads, and forty one (41) 6mm brown lip shell heshi beads. The larger 8mm beads as you can see are at each end of the necklace with both strands combined and running through the beads. The points where the artist begins stringing both strands are combined with both the 6mm silver and 6mm heshi beads. Somewhat a unique style whereas most necklaces that are similar use only silver beads. The necklace is strung on nylon coated beading wire with a large solid hook-n-eye clasp.
