Item 991P- Navajo Sterling Silver Kokopelli Man in Maze Overlay Belt Buckle by Sharon Cisco
Beautiful bold Navajo Kokopelli and Man in the Maze decorated silver overlay belt buckle. Made by Sharon Cisco, she’s applied a flute playing Kokopelli deity next to the fabled Man in the Maze design in a silver overlay technique. She’s added slight texture with a silver oxidation which has turned the silver black on the first sheet of silver. Coming back with the Kokopelli and the Man in the Maze design cut out from the second sheet of silver. It’s allowed the figures to be highlighted with the black oxidized silver allowing good separation to the detail. Legend tells of the Kokopelli deity, being the God of fertilization, playing his flute, singing, and dancing in celebration with the tribesmen all night long. After the tribesmen finally became exhausted and enjoyed a long sleep they wake to a surprise that all the women had become pregnant and the Kokopelli had slipped away with nobody knowing where he’d went. The Man in the Maze talks about man’s journey through the maze of life. Showing the ups and downs of life, some paths lead to a dead end and one path leading to fulfilling life. Once man completes the maze of life his spirit is flown on the wings of the eagle up into the sky to meet and be side by side with the Creator.
