Navajo heavily decorated silver Thunderbird overlay belt buckle. The silversmith has created a multiple symbol silver overlay and stampwork concentrating on the large Thunderbird. Not only does the artist display the large bird he also displays Thunderbird symbols, water symbols, kivas, snakes, full suns, and sunrises among other symbols set into the busy overlay buckle. All overlaid onto a textured silver base. The artist finishes the buckle by attaching a swivel type belt clasp and set pin on the back.

The highly decorated belt buckle measures 2” tall by 3” across and weighs 36.6 grams (1.29 oz or 1.18 ozt). It’s signed RBJR - Sterling which we attribute to award winner Navajo silversmith Robert Becenti Jr. The belt buckle will accommodate up to a 1 1/2” wide belt.
