Large, bold, vintage Navajo turquoise wolf bust silver necklace. The silversmith has created a large pendant using a Kings Manassa turquoise stone with rust brown matrix. The stone is set into a scallop cut bezel flanked with large silver feathers on both sides. The artist continues adding a cast silver Wolf’s Bust above the stone with a silver drop to each side. Finishing the decoration with silver drops and crescent moon wire across the bottom. It’s permanently attached to a silver necklace made with balanced 6-7mm seamed beads and 5mm x 20mm melon beads.

The necklace measures 22 1/2” long end to end with a wearable length of 14” measured from clasp straight down to bottom of pendant. The pendant itself measures 3” by 1 3/4” across. The necklace consists of fifty (50) 6-7mm seamed beads, ten (10) 5mm x 20mm melon beads, two (2) silver cones, and a lobster clasp with eye. It’s strung on nylon coated beading wire. The complete necklace weighs 68.7 grams (2.42 oz or 2.21 ozt) and is stamped Sterling - 5 Star. I believe this was an old southwest manufacturing company from the 60’s-70’s. We purchased this 15 yrs ago from an estate auction. The deceased bought old pendants, bolos, and belt buckles and would convert them into beaded necklaces selling them at pow wows and other venues. $567.95
