Bold well-made vintage 1973 Hopi Bear Bust-Bear Paw silver overlay collector's bolo tie. The silversmith Has created a long rectangular setting displaying a bear's bust with claws shooting off the neck along with a bear paw or bear track directly under the bear's bust, finishing the design with three (3) framed lines across the bottom. The overlay displays deep precise cutting to expose the lightly textured blackened silver base. The artist also creates custom bolo end tips by creating a standard bead tipped end tips and attaching round solid silver plumbob's that come to a point and dangle from soldered jump rings. The silversmith has finished the bolo by attaching two (2) circular ring slides to hold the top of the line 6-ply soft braided black leather cord.

The bolo setting measures 2 11/16" by 1  1/16" across the top narrowing to 7/8" across the bottom. Connected to the soft 6-ply black braided leather cord that measures 43" long which includes the 2 3/4" long dangling plumbob tipped end tips. The complete bolo tie weighs 49.5 grams (1.75 oz or 1.59 ozt) and is hallmarked with both the Hopi Sunface of the Hopi Silvercraft Guild and LP with crossed Rabbit Sticks by Hopi master silversmith Loren Phillips (deceased 1954-2001). According to numerous hallmark books, Mr Phillips only used this hallmark in 1973 to 1976. He then changed to an arched rabbit stick without initials using it til he passed on. Not to be confused with his cousin with the same name who was an award winning carver noted for his carved Kachinas. Bold, detailed, high end Hopi collector's bolo by noted silversmith!  $587.95
