Item #1012Z- Large Vintage 60's-70's Navajo Kingman Turquoise Sterling Silver Leaves Scrolls Blossoms Decorative Bolo Tie
Large vintage Navajo 60’s-early 70’s old Kingman nugget silver leaves, scrolls, and flutes decorated bolo tie. The silversmith has created a large abstract rectangular bolo setting highlighting an old Kingman turquoise nugget. The oval cut nugget is set into a smooth silver bezel wrapped with twisted wire and mounted in the center. The silversmith has attached a silver leaf to both sides of the stone and continues decorating by adding a trefold squashblossom flute in all four (4) corners of the setting. The artist fills the voids with two (2) twisted ropes and long scroll shooting out of the four (4) flutes along with three (3) silver wire teardrops across the top and bottom. The artist finishes decorating by framing the setting with heavy gauge decorative stamped wire. All mounted to a blackened scorched silver base. The artist has attached a BENNETT PAT.PEND C-31 thumb locking bolo clasp on the back. The Bennett C-31 clasp was produced from 1957 to 1967 and was switched to simply BENNETT PAT.PEND. in 1967 to 1983. We predict the age of the bolo as between 60’s to possibly early 1970’s considering extra run offs before the thumb clasps started being seen without the C-31.
